Advanced Plastics 120ºC to 230ºC

High-performance PEI, PEEK, PTFE, PPS, electrostatic dissipative plastics, and more.

This suite of engineering-grade plastics gives you the opportunity to find and test the best material solutions for your unique application. Advanced engineering materials exhibit high mechanical strength and stiffness over an elevated temperature range, with predictable performance even in heat as high as 230°C (450°F).

These semi-finished thermoplastic products also exhibit excellent dimensional stability and creep resistance, superior electrical characteristics (including insulating and dielectric properties), and some of the broadest chemical resistance of all advanced engineering polymers. They are excellent candidates for applications with very specific demands – such as analytical instrumentation, medical devices, and semiconductor process equipment components. Our offering includes availability in plastic stock shapes, as well as Near Net Shapes.
Semitron® Family of Products
The Semitron® Semiconductor Grade thermoplastic products were developed to help designers and users optimize the performance of semiconductor and electronics device manufacturing equipment. In addition to device manufacture, many of these materials are ideal for specific environments where wear-resistance, chemical-resistance and the management of static electricity are required. Two groups of Semitron® products have been developed. One, well suited for device handling and test applications, and a second for next-generation CMP use. Semitron® grades are available in sheet, rod (some formulations) and machined parts. Some are engineered with specific ESd properties while others offer enhanced purity, wear properties and higher performance in various semiconductor applications.
Ketron® Family of Products
The Ketron® PEEK family of materials is based on polyetheretherketone resin. This semi-crystalline advanced engineering material exhibits a unique combination of high mechanical properties, temperature resistance and excellent chemical resistance – making it the most popular advanced plastics material. Our comprehensive portfolio of Ketron® products offers formulations that build on the excellent performance attributes of PEEK to offer specific properties to excel in the most demanding applications. Our range of Ketron® products includes carbon fiber and glass fiber reinforced grades for improved mechanical characteristics, as well as grades offering internal lubrication, better load-carrying capabilities, and food-contact suitability.
Duratron® PEI Family of Products
Duratron® Polyetherimide (PEI) is family of transparent amber high-performance polymers that combine high strength and rigidity at elevated temperatures with long term heat resistance. PEI offers excellent dimensional stability combined with broad chemical resistance.  Duratron® PEI grades are commonly machined into parts for reusable medical devices, analytical instrumentation, electrical/electronic insulators (including many semiconductor process components) and a variety of structural components requiring high strength and rigidity at elevated temperatures. Mitsubishi Chemical Group offers Duratron® U1000 PEI and Duratron® U2300 PEI as standard products.
Sultron® Family of Products
Sultron® PSU is a family of polysulfone products that offer high chemical resistance to acidic and salt solutions, and good resistance to detergents, hot water and steam. In addition, polysulfone has excellent radiation stability, and offers low ionic impurity levels.
Techtron® Family of Products
Techtron® PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) products close the price and performance gaps between standard and advanced engineering thermoplastics. Our range of Techtron® materials offer the broadest resistance to chemicals of any advanced engineering plastic. They have no known solvents below 200 °C and offer inertness to steam, strong bases, fuels and acids. Minimal moisture absorption and a very low coefficient of linear thermal expansion, combined with stress relieving processes, make these PPS products ideally suited for precise tolerance machined components. In addition, PPS products exhibit excellent electrical characteristics and are inherently flame retardant. These materials are an excellent alternative to PEEK at lower temperatures.
Fluorosint® Family of Products
The Fluorosint® range of enhanced PTFE materials was developed to fill the performance gaps where unfilled as well as low-tech, filled PTFE-based polymers underperform. Each Fluorosint® material was specifically designed to excel in demanding bearing and seal applications. While each of Fluorosint® grade possesses the great chemical resistance and compliance of standard PTFE, each material offers unique properties resulting from our proprietary process in which we chemically link synthetically manufactured mica to virgin PTFE. These enhancements give individual Fluorosint® grades superior performance properties, ranging from outstanding dimensional stability, to improved wear performance, to higher load bearing capabilities.
